Communications

Purpose of Project: To disseminate gardening information to the public and to members of the Nelson County Master Gardeners Association.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 10+

Skills Needed: Writing, researching, editing, updating web pages, public speaking, building Powerpoint presentations.

The Communications Bureau covers a variety of sub-projects. It started with articles written for the Nelson County Times in 2003. These are usually 500+ words with a photograph, every two weeks.

Our web site was started In 2005 and completely redesigned in 2012. It allows all our members to be informed about upcoming events, keeps historical records, and allows easy access to other gardening web sites.

In preparation for Master Gardener College 2005, Diane Southard and Rosemary Connelly created a poster board display that highlighted Nelson Master Gardener activities. This display is currently at the Nelson Center in Lovingston.

Occasionally we are asked to speak to a local gardening club or civic group about a horticultural matter. We would like to build a library of such talks, complete with Powerpoint presentations.

So you see there are many different ways that we "communicate". And we welcome all volunteers!
